Organizing 107 (Sewing and Craft Rooms)

I am not a sewer and I don't do a whole lot of crafts but one of my goals this year is to do more hands on projects. A craft room would be ideal and an organized craft room would be a must. Here are some rooms that should inspire all of us.
Love the color Pallet. It makes organizing look fun:)

Clean and Simple.
What a great idea to hang ribbons and paper.
This sophisticated office is highly organized and looks like it would be easy to keep clean with all of the specific locations for your stuff.
You can take this anywhere you need it.
This is filed in my favorites for eye candy! Cindy from Quaint Handmade is creatively fabulous!!
Cindy's sewing area is so "quaint". What a delightful space.
This would be anyones dream space. I love the mix of styles of furniture. The ribbon on the wall is clever. Lovely:)
Studio : Bookcase by quaint handmade.
This book shelve is put together so well with all of the specific locations for magazines, fabric and books.
Shelves, Magnetic Rack, Ribbon Rack, Tools - North East Corner by Crafty Intentions.
An organized space like this would take a few days to create but it would be so well worth it! You would always know where your items are.

Perfect idea for an inspiration board/ storage board.

Love the thread wall. Check out the rest of this space here.
A good workspace needs specific locations for sewing, working and organizing.

Organize 106 (Closets)

Closets can be our favorite space because they showcase our wardrobe that we are so proud of and those comfy sheets that cost our whole last paycheck. Or closets can become our enemy because we lose control of them and we just cant seem to gain control back. Well, your assignment is to win those spaces back!!! Whether you have a tiny closet a room sized closet, a cabinet for a closet or an armoire for a closet make that closet lovely and functional. It may take a whole day but you will feel so much better.
I found a great article at Real Simple for organizing your closets that you should check out. Its 19 organizing tricks that are sure to work. And whatever trick you choose stay consistent with your choice and make your closets beautiful!! (I will not be charging for this closet pep talk.)

Organize 105 (Kitchen)

Oh the lovely Kitchen! Why does it seem like we are cleaning our kitchens every other hour?? Well, probably because we use it alot. I have to have my counters wiped and my sink empty before I can go to sleep. It is something that I cannot handle!! (Ask my hubby.)
When organizing a kitchen start by getting rid of the things you haven't used since Jonny's 3 year old birthday party 20 years ago. Those things that you think "You never know when that will come in handy". Face it, it will NEVER come in handy if it hasn't been handy for the last decade.
Another huge tip for keeping that kitchen spiffy is make sure your counters are uncluttered. A few canisters, coffee maker, toaster and maybe a cookie jar is a good start. The more stuff the more likely your kitchen will look sloppy. Well peeps, those are my 2 tips of the day. Hope they help get you thinking!
Here is some kitchen eye candy:)

Organize 104 (Pantries)

I think the greatest key to an organized pantry is baskets, bins and dividers. Instead of opening your pantry and just tossing whatever is in your hand into whatever shelve it lands on, place the item directly into the location and or bin it belongs in. Another great tip is to prioritize your pantry. Things you frequently use should be in reach and things you use not very often should be stored higher or deeper. Remember, a happy cook has a happy pantry! (Just made that one up:)

Organize 103 (Bathroom)

For some bathroom inspiration please view my bathroom gallery that I just did awhile back.
Some ideas for keeping things organized is to invest in pretty containers that you find appealing to store all of your toiletries and random bathroom items. It might get you excited to organize and keep things clean. Ikeaalways has great storage options.

Also, little patterned plates and cups are fun to keep items like q-tips and cotton balls from spilling everywhere. And when you open your drawer or your medicine cabinet what a pretty visual to see!!
Anthro constantly has cute dishes available.

And if you have a tiny bathroom with only a pedestal sink here is the perfect way to hang your towel. This cute gadget just hooks onto the front of your sink for easy access to your towel. And the price is wonderful!

Organize 102 (Bedroom)

This is the one room that I think (personal opinion) is overlooked the most when it comes to not only design but organization. It is always at the bottom of our list because A. we don't think its as important as the rest of the home or B. its easier to shut the door and ignore the problem. My question to you is How do you sleep at night??? hehe. Here are some suggestions and inspiring images.

Keep your bedroom SIMPLE! (Easy Living)
Start using those pieces in your bedroom for actual storage. Don't just have furniture for looks. Utilize every piece. Also utilize under your bed. Get long flat bins to put stuff in and then slide them right under. (Blueprint)

Less is better. Don't overwhelm your bedroom space with stuff. Only allow yourself minimal pieces of furniture to allow room to breathe. Chairs are great in bedrooms but make sure they don't become coat racks:) (Living Etc.)
Simple.... (VT Wonen)
Paper your room for visual purposes. It will add warmth and art without cluttering up your walls. (VT Wonen)
Keep your nightstand clutter free. Only allow yourself a certain amount of magazines and books by your bed. (Decorati)
This piece is perfect for storage and it looks fabulous. Only having a few items on top looks so nice and clutter free. (Twenty2)
If you have to have a work space in your bedroom keep the desk top almost bare with a few decorative items so it doesn't give off the impression of an overwhelming office space.
(House to Home)
(Living Etc.)

Let your bedroom reflect you. The colors and patterns you love, your favorite scents, textiles that feel good to you. Don't allow it to become a storage space. And don't let it become a giant laundry basket! Sweet dreams:)

Organize 101 (Drawers)

Lets begin SG's Organizing series with the dreaded junk drawers. (This one is dedicated to JoyMarie Louiseand Christine.) Now, I'm not going to try and give an organizing counseling session but simply post images and little ideas to inspire us:)

The one thing that is sure to work to get those drawers under control is drawer dividers! (Martha)
Instead of filling a drawer with miscellaneous keys, install a little cabinet by your work space or door to store your keys. (Martha)
In your kitchen utensil drawer divide your utensils up into groups. Spoon group, whisk group ect.. (Real Simple)
Even if your drawer is not perfectly grouped it always looks tidy with the help of dividers and trays. (Real Simple)
The Container Store carries a wide variety of dividers, including these bamboo trays.
eHow gives us these 6 easy steps for an organized drawer.

*Empty the drawer entirely.
*Sort the items into categories, e.g. pens, paper, rubber bands, paper clips etc.
*Discard items that are broken or dirty.
*Donate or recycle items that you have an excessive amount of. You may find yourself with 47 pens. Even if you place a few pens in each room, you’ll still have too many!
*Clean out the drawer, and if desired, insert a drawer liner.
*Insert the drawer organizer into the drawer and begin organizing your items. If the organizer is packed full, then you need to purge some more.
