How much do we love Lisa Bengtsson?? Alot! A new shop " from Sthlm" was launched last month. They introduce a new Swedish designer each month. This months spotlight designer is the lovely Lisa Bengtsson. Her new collection of plates "Between Us Women" celebrates the women in all of our families. Each plate has character of its own, offering a unique story and perspective, complete with an inscription on the back (in Swedish). There are four in a series of twelve. Expect to see more to come!
Last month from Stlhm spotlighted Lotta Kühlhorn. Lotta was one of the first designers in Sweden to embrace the graphic elements of “junk culture,” pop, films, and mass produced items, and reinterpret them as her own. Read more here.

George Nelson

George Nelson was a design genius, no doubt. His work with Herman Miller is legendary. Nelson is responsible for such classics as the as the Marshmallow Sofa, the Swag Leg Armchair, the Coconut chair and many others. Known for his innovative designs and quirky style, Nelson had a knack for seamlessly blending form and function to great some of today’s modern design masterpieces.




Nelson was recruited by Herman Miller's founder, D.J. DePree, who saw one of Nelson's creations spotlighted in a 1945 issue of Life Magazine. This partnership was indeed a beautiful thing, and together they ushered in a new era of modern design. Always a humble man, Nelson described his career as a series of creative "zaps," where inspiration slammed into him from out of the blue. Take a look at the Marshmallow Sofa - who else but George Nelson could have thought this up in the cookie-cutter 1950s?

Herman Miller continues to push design boundaries even today. Whether you're looking at a Herman Miller chair, desk, or table lamp; there's a little bit of George Nelson in that design. He was one of the greats. You gotta love that George Nelson!

Here's to the Day's

There a certain people who love textile design. Then there are those who love to design furniture. And then there are those who just design rooms. What about the ones who do it all! Like the Day's?? Yes.
The furniture designer Robin Day and his textile designer wife Lucienne made a huge statement in British Design after World War 2. They pioneered a new modern idiom and are still Britain's most celebrated design couple. Read there amazing bio here.

Peter Frank

One job that I would be more than willing to take is a prop/set designer. I cant imagine a better design job. Its as if you are an artist starting with a blank canvas. You are able to create something beautiful and use furniture, accessory's and art to complete the picture. (I get giddy just thinking about it.) Peter Frank is a set designer with quite the portfolio under his belt. He is represented by Thomas Truehaft.
