Houzz....

Have you heard of the new site houzz yet?? Houzz aims to help homeowners find inspiration in home design and architecture and enables them to find, save and share photos and ideas. How fun! Below is a space that I found off of houzz by Levenson McDavid Architects which I just realized (and was reminded) is owned by Jenna Lyons, art director for J. Crew....Duh.
I am off to start my ideabook.

First appereance.....

I am so into front doors right now! Black, yellow and bright white are a few of my favorite shades for doors. What a better way to give your home exterior an instant redo then to paint your front door a bright bold color. Plus it is so important to show attention to not just your interior but also exterior.
BHG has a few tips for making a sale before you even walk in the door. Read here.

Do you mind if I move in??

I'm sure the owners trying to sell this home in Kingswood wouldn't mind if I house sat for awhile!
When I stumbled upon this home I quickly thought about how simpler the home can be the more certain pieces are able to be emphasized. If this kitchen /eating area had more objects you probably wouldn't notice the gorgeous wooden table and chairs. And the fun black and white rug wouldn't be such an anchor piece for the room.
So my design advice for the day is to keep things simple and only add 1-3 drama pieces in a smaller room and maybe a few more in a larger room.
The stools look great mixed with the wood on the table.
What a fun mix of patterned and solid textiles.
The moldings are great mixed with the more mid century pieces.
The floor looks effortless with the natural light wood.
I love this staircase with the 3 toned rug creeping up.
Everyone needs a tufted leather couch! (Right Hubby?)
The white clean lines in this bathroom create such a relaxing spa mood.
The table and desk give this corner a very vintage feel.
Love love the head and foot board.
This fireplace is so ornate and looks fabulous with more lighthearted toys as the accessories.
This bedroom is light and cheery. The dress displayed is a lovely feature.
I want this shower!!
What a great entertaining space!

Villa of the month

I'm thinking that someone should have a villa in the Waasland for me to come visit. That is if it looks like this.

Poolside

Its been a super hot day today in my neck of the woods. This pool would have been perfect for me to lounge at!
Happy Monday everyone. I have lots of fun stuff coming for this week including a project that my husband has been working on in our abode. See you all soon!

Extend your living space

House to Home

We always here the phrase "Your outdoor space should always be an extension of your indoor living space". Some of us wonder how that can be possible. Isn't outdoor furniture stiff and boring? Won't fabric be ruined outside? Well, lucky for us there are endless options available to create a gorgeous outdoor living space. If you are on a budget but still want stylish pieces, chain stores like Pier OneTarget and Cost Plus World Market (to name a few) carry great and durable outdoor furniture and accessories. Or if you are on the hunt for streamline and chic pieces and budget isn't an issue there are a number of designers like Philippe Starck and Harry Bertoiawho have outdoor lines. My friend just purchased a fabulous modern table and chair set from...wait for it.... Walmart! And it looks really spendy!
If you already have an outdoor set spruce your space up with pots, well textiled outdoor pillows, candles ect. You should think outside of the box. My husband is about to install a chandelier on our patio right over our outdoor dining set which is our old dining room table that I am going to re-paint and the chairs our plastic from Ikea.
Moral of the story, have fun, be creative and make it as comfortable as your indoor space!
