{Style Test} Julia

Its the return of the {Style Test} and I am liking Julia's Style!

Julia's StyleEarthy Glam with Traditional, Modern and Cottage touches.

Color is played with in this style and not afraid to be showcased. The bones of a room are earthy but the dressings of a room are glamorous and eclectic. Accessories are fun, whimsy and playful but have a specific role. Rooms are put together effortlessly.

Eden's Room

Here is a few images of my daughters room. It has been my work in progress since we moved into our house. So I am happy to say that I finally completed it. (I think.)

How fun is this wall? I think it is a great way to create a focal point if you do not have a fireplace or such. All you do is take different sizes of ceiling moldings and display them a unique way. Easy.

ABC...Bertoia, Nelson, Eames

A close friend of mine sent me the link to these super cute classic design posters. My fave is the Chair Exam Poster! Good find Kalah:)

Feel More Human

When I came across this room from a A.T House Tour I immediately thought about what a fun lively eating spot this would be for all of the kids I eventually would like to have. (Ok, maybe not that many kids!) Oh and I heart the chairs....

Its a good day...

Happy Monday! Today I am off spending Martin Luther King day with my family. We are having breakfast at a French Cafe, T-ball in the park, shopping for a 2 yr old who needs 4T tops and renting classic Looney Tunes Dvd's. Sounds like a fun day to me!

George Nelson

Guest Blogger: HermanMillerSeating.com on "Love That George Nelson".

George Nelson was a design genius, no doubt. His work with Herman Miller is legendary. Nelson is responsible for such classics as the as the Marshmallow Sofa, the Swag Leg Armchair, the Coconut chair and many others. Known for his innovative designs and quirky style, Nelson had a knack for seamlessly blending form and function to great some of today’s modern design masterpieces.

Nelson was recruited by Herman Miller's founder, D.J. DePree, who saw one of Nelson's creations spotlighted in a 1945 issue of Life Magazine. This partnership was indeed a beautiful thing, and together they ushered in a new era of modern design. Always a humble man, Nelson described his career as a series of creative "zaps," where inspiration slammed into him from out of the blue. Take a look at the Marshmallow Sofa - who else but George Nelson could have thought this up in the cookie-cutter 1950s?

Herman Miller continues to push design boundaries even today. Whether you're looking at a Herman Miller chair, desk, or table lamp; there's a little bit of George Nelson in that design. He was one of the greats. You gotta love that George Nelson!

We all know or should know that what is seen the first moment we step foot into a home is so important. It sets the scene for the rest of your home. Why not make it fun and full of you. Here are some images to inspire us to enter right!
